More About the Producers
Lebudu Kriak is produced by ten farmers around the Ducurai Village in the Letefoho province of Timor-Leste. The producers - Francisco da Silva, Armando M. de Oliviera, Mario S. da Cruz, Oscar Soares, Pedro C. de Deus, Manuel de Deus, Agusto Castro, Nelson M. da Cruz, Manuel M. das Neves, & Tomas Soares - are members of Café Brisa Serena. Founded in 2010 CBS works in extensive collaboration with Peace Winds Japan, an aid group working in Timor-Leste helping people in displaced communities rebuild their lives after Timor Leste's independence in 2002.
The highland forests of Letefoho are known for coffee production. The high altitude of the area is excellent for cultivating high quality coffee and is also known for producing coffee's most famous natural hybrid variety, Timor Hybrid. A genetic combination of arabica & robusta, the Timor Hybrid’s genetics are nature's first cross of arabica’s high cup quality and robusta’s natural disease resistance. Still a backbone of Timor’s coffee production, Timor Hybrid and Typica coffee variety coffees are cultivated by the ten coffee producers whose coffee makes up the Lebudu Kriak.
