Guatemala Hoja Blanca Natural - In a lush valley, tucked between jungle covered peaks, Hoja Blanca sits right on the Northwestern Guatemalan border with Mexico. This small village is home to Finca Villaure, the farm of Aurelio Villatoro and many other farms owned and operated by Aurelio and his wife Araceli’s extended families. Traditionally known for their washed coffees, in recent years Aurelio’s son Rodin has taken on mastering the crafts of different processing techniques just as his father has mastered the art of washed coffee. Rodin’s innovation is helping the family diversify their coffee offerings and stay relevant with producing trends globally. Careful cherry selection is used to ensure only ripe cherries are harvested for the natural lots, the coffee is then floated removing any light weight or bad beans, before being dried in covered raised beds. The resulting cup is a new look from the traditional cup of coffee from Huehuetenango. We taste notes of strawberry, cola, pineapple, sugar cane, and nocino.
